This project explores the design of the pre-amp stage of a typical electric guitar amplifier. Itrequires knowledge of the operation of operational amplifier circuits and RC circuits. A volumecontrol, bass/treble equalizer, and variable distortion were all implemented in this pre-ampdesign using analog filters and op-amps. The design was formed after research on the Internet ofhow to design an analog equalizer and distortion circuitry. These features are very common anduseful for amplifying guitars. The circuit was first tested using a Pspice simulation. Next, afunction generator, DC power supply and oscilloscope were used to test it on a breadboard. After successful testing, a printed circuit board layout was designed and ordered online. Thecomponents were then soldered onto the printed circuit board and placed in an enclosure for thefinal product. This project was a learning experience in design of these pre-amp circuits, as wellas the fabrication and manufacturing process that is implemented to produce a final product.
