What is the function of the resonator installed within a capacitor bank?

Do you mean anti-resonance reactors or coils ?
If this what you mean then they are used to change the natural resonance frequency of the parallel circuit formed between the main transformer coils and the capacitor bank.
Inserting an anti-resonance reactor in series with the capacitors will change this natural resonance frequency to a point such that the bad effects of the harmonics are not to damage the capacitors or amplify the busbar harmonics
